Post-Doctoral Residency in the Post-Graduate Program in Education: Knowledge and Social Inclusion.
The Post-Doctoral Residency candidate’s supervising professor must submit and have his/her application approved by the Program Board.
In order for the Collegiate to take a decision on the DEFERRAL or INDEFERRAL of the Post-Doctoral Residency, the supervising professor must make the request via the intranet, posting the following documents in PDF format:
- Research project that includes a work plan;
- Lattes CV generated by the Lattesin the case of Brazilian candidate. In the case of a foreign candidate who does not have Lattes CV, should be similar Scientific Curriculum or your Curriculum Vitae;
- Letter of acceptance from the supervising teacher, accredited in the Postgraduate Program in Education, with the agreement of the Departmental Council.
Once the application for residence has been granted, the applicant must send the following documents by e-mail (ensino.posfaeufmg@gmail.com):
- Post-Doctoral Residency Registration Application Form. The “personal details” field must be filled in completely by the future resident and signed by him/her in the place provided for this purpose (Document at the bottom of the page);
- Copy of Identity Document (if the resident is a foreigner, they must present a copy of the passport’s identification page, visa page and, if they have one, a Foreigner’s Identification Card issued by the Federal Police);
- Copy of CPF (Individual Taxpayer’s Register);
- Doctoral diploma or equivalent document proving completion of the doctoral course (documents stating the need to submit a corrected final version of the thesis as a condition for the title of Doctor will not be accepted);
- Copy of birth or marriage certificate;
- Proof of residence in Brazil.
– If the project involves research with human beings or animals, genetic engineering or technically modifiable organisms, the supervisor must submit the project for approval by the UFMG Research Ethics Committee (COEP), after consideration by the Board.
– The residency will last a minimum of 3 months and can be extended for up to 12 months. At the College’s discretion, the post-doctoral residency can be renewed for periods of up to 12 months.
-Any research activity developed during the Residency that results in a creation requiring intellectual protection must be registered with the Coordination of Technological Transfer and Innovation – CT&IT of the Dean of Research. A creation is considered to be any work that can be the object of intellectual property rights in their broadest sense, such as an invention, utility model, industrial design, trademark, computer program, integrated circuit topography, cultivar and its improvements.
– If the resident’s work plan includes extension activities, the respective project must have been approved by the Department’s Chamber,
or equivalent structure, and by the Unit’s Congregation.
– In the event that the work plan includes teaching activities, under supervision, in an undergraduate or postgraduate course, the teaching duties will be defined by the Board of the department involved, or equivalent structure, having heard the collegiate body of the Postgraduate Program in Education.
At the end of the residency period approved by the Board, the resident must submit, within 30 days of the end of the residency, a report on the activities carried out, accompanied by their intellectual production during the period in which they were involved, and an opinion on this report from their supervisor.
UFMG and the Graduate Program may define other criteria for acceptance into a post-doctoral residency, as well as the requirements for approval.
Requests for extensions:
The request for an extension, with due justification, must be made by the supervising professor, via the intranet, at least 30 days before the end date of the post-doctoral resident’s contract. The request for an extension will be submitted to the Collegiate for consideration.
Documents required for the extension request (in PDF format):
- Partial report on the activities carried out, accompanied by the resident’s intellectual production during the period, as well as the work plan for the new period requested;
- Opinion of the supervising teacher on the partial report, stating the period to be requested for extension.
Completion of post-doc:
Please note that within 15 days of the end of the post-doctoral residency period, the resident must submit the final research report to the supervisor so that he/she can issue an opinion. Within 30 days of the end of the post-doctoral residency period, the following documents must be sent to the Collegiate’s e-mail address: colpgsec@fae.ufmg.br for consideration by the Collegiate:
- Report on the activities carried out, accompanied by the intellectual production during the period;
- Opinion on the final report of the post-doctoral residency by the supervising professor.

The certificate will be issued after approval by the Board of the completion of the post-doctoral residency. The documents required to issue the certificate are:
- Copy of ID card (front and back);
- Copy of birth certificate or marriage certificate;
- Doctoral diploma or equivalent document proving completion of the doctoral course (documents stating the need to submit a corrected final version of the thesis as a condition for the title of Doctor will not be accepted);
- Copy of identity card or national alien registration (RNE), if you are a foreigner.
