Objectives (general and specific)
General objective:
To contribute to the democratization of Brazilian education, through the deepening of studies, the development of research, the production of theories and the training of professionals, which contribute to the advancement of educational knowledge and practice.
Specific objectives:
– to create conditions that encourage research and theorization of the educational phenomenon in its multiple dimensions;
– to provide an environment that welcomes collective reflection on pedagogical practice and theories;
– to train teachers and researchers capable of contributing to the production of knowledge and its transformation;
– to train education professionals capable of designing and implementing innovative projects that are theoretically consistent and socially relevant;
– to create, consolidate or expand lines of research by incorporating new projects and new researchers.
Graduate Profile
The aim of the PPGE is to train researchers in the field of education for an academic career, as well as to enable professionals to exercise reflection when taking on responsibilities in the management, planning and evaluation of public policies in the field of education and to restore to teachers the dimension of the complexity of their professional activity, encouraging and instrumentalizing their willingness to research in conjunction with their teaching activities in Basic Education and/or Higher Education.
For this reason, this Program is concerned with: training teachers to meet the expansion of higher education in the field of Education; preparing researchers capable of carrying out studies and analysis of educational issues; training professionals who can respond to the demands of developing and improving the Brazilian educational system; training pedagogical agents committed to overcoming Brazilian educational problems, in a line of creation and innovation, with multiplying social effects.
