    REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING A DOCTORATE
    (FOR ALL STUDENTS)

    1) Complete at least 24 credits distributed as follows

    ELECTIVE COURSES - 4 CREDITS
    To be defined by mutual agreement with the advisor among the subjects offered in the semester

    2) Present the reformulated research project at the end of the first year for the opinion and approval of the Graduate School.

    3) Take the doctoral qualifying exam by the 36th month.

    4) Complete the entire doctoral course including the thesis defense within a maximum of 48 months (minimum: 24 months).

    5) Present a certificate of proficiency in two foreign languages for enrollment in the 5th semester of the course (failure to present these certificates will result in the student's enrollment being cancelled and their exclusion from the course).

    • Spanish (for Brazilians)
    • Portuguese (for students from other Latin American countries)

    6) Thesis defense.

    SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR BRAZILIAN STUDENTS

    1) Carry out research that meets one of the conditions below:

    • Address educational issues by contrasting or comparing the Brazilian reality with that of one or more Latin American countries.
    • Deal with educational issues from at least one Latin American country, except Brazil.

    2) Do an internship in a Latin American or Caribbean country for at least 6 months.

    SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS FROM OTHER LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES

    1) To live in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) for the first two semesters of the doctorate, while taking the compulsory courses.

    2) Carry out research on educational issues relevant to the reality of one or more countries in the region.
