Restriction: The Collegiate doesn’t approve credit from courses taken during the Master’s course to be utilized for completion of the curriculum for the PhD course. (For example: suppose that a  student took Trends in Educational Thinking: Sociology during the Master’s course to complete the curriculum for mandatory disciplines. These credits will not be approved for the Doctorate. If the student wishes, he could take another Trends in Educational Thinking module (For example, Public Policy or Psychology).

OPTIONAL DISCIPLINES – 4 CREDITS
To be defined in agreement with advisor based upon disciplines being offered during semester

 

  • Presentation at the end of first year – the research project reformulated to be evaluated and approved by Graduate Collegiate.

 

  • Doctorate Qualification Exam to be taken by 36th month of course

 

  • Finalize and conclude entire doctoral course including defense of thesis in maximum timeframe of 48 months (minimum: 24 months)

 

  • Presentation of proficiency certificate in two foreign languages for matriculation in 5th school semester (failure to present these certificates will result in the cancelling of student’s registration and his exclusion from the course).

 

  • English or French
  • Spanish (for Brazilians)
  • Portuguese (for students from other Latin American countries)

 

  • Defense of thesis.

 

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR BRAZILIAN STUDENTS

 

  • Conduct research that meets one of the conditions below:

 

  • Dealing with educational themes comparing or contrasting Brazil’s current reality with one or more other Latin American countries.
  • Dealing with educational themes from, at least, one other Latin American country other than Brazil.

 

  • Complete an internship in a Latin American or Caribbean country, for a period of at least 6 months.

 

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS FROM OTHER LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES

 

  • Residence in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) during the first two semesters of the doctorate, when taking mandatory subject courses.
  • Carry out research dealing with educational themes relevant to the current reality of one of more countries in the region.
